Lawry’s Foods Enters the Kingdom Day Parade for Ninth Consecutive Year

LOS ANGELES (Date) – For over 60 years Lawry’s Foods has brought distinctive flavors to the kitchen tables of America, now they’re set to spice up the annual Kingdom Day Parade once again. Lawry’s Foods, the leading marketer of blended spices, seasonings, marinades, and sauces, is proud to enter their float, “Inspiring Creative Meals”, in the 2007 Martin Luther King Jr. Kingdom Day Parade on January 15th in Los Angeles.

This year’s float highlights Lawry’s legacy by featuring three generations of families gathered around an opulent dinner table. The table will be filled with wonderfully delicious foods such as fried chicken, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes with gravy, and homemade buttermilk biscuits. The float also celebrates the once commonplace traditional family routine of cooking and eating meals together. This year’s theme song, “Family Affair” by Sly and the Family Stone, is sure to inspire.

The float will be manned by teachers and students from the Dorsey High Culinary Arts Academy. Dorsey High is one of the local schools that Lawry’s partners with in its Menu for Success program. The Menu for Success program introduces middle and high school students to various careers available in the food service industry and encourages entrepreneurialism.

"We are thrilled and honored to once again participate in the Kingdom Day Parade”, said Jim Davis, vice president of community relations for Lawry’s Foods. “This is a tradition that allows us to demonstrate our support for the community and its commitment to keeping Dr. King’s dream alive.”

This is Lawry’s ninth consecutive year participating in the Kingdom Day Parade. Their floats have twice won the coveted Governors Trophy for best float. This year’s float was designed and built by Fiesta Parade Floats, who’ve won numerous awards for the many floats they’ve created for the Rose Parade throughout the years.

After the Kingdom Day Parade, Lawry’s invites everyone to stay and visit them as they will be giving away Goodie Bags filled with free product samples, recipe leaflets, measuring spoons, and small gift items. Goodie Bags will be distributed from the Lawry’s booth in Leimert Park while supplies last.
